How To Get Grade School Kids Loving Science
It’s a dream come true for every parent to have a child who enjoys their Science class. It’s one of the major subjects they have in school. Besides this, it’s also an important subject that opens up a lot of opportunities to them when they go to college and in their professional lives.
But some kids don’t just happen to like science while other kids hate it or think it’s too difficult. The environment they grow up in can make a big difference in how they turn out. Creating a home environment that is supportive of science and scientific endeavors can encourage our children in this subject. As parents, this change begins with us.
This was my frame of mind when I came across this book called “The Amazing Science Discovery Series” by Gabrielle Hunter. This ebook series is made especially for parents of grade school kids to help them re-discover the fun in science together with their children. It’s a set of 5 ebooks, for each grade level, and guides parents through the concepts that their kids are expected to learn and how they can support their kids in their science classes.
Here are some of the things I absolutely love about this series:
The language and tone used is light and friendly. Concepts are explained in plain English. She definitely explained it better than my old Science teacher. For the first time, I fully understood the Archimedes’ Principle that deals with buoyancy!
The ebook goes into an overview of the science topics that your child will be going through for each of the elementary grade levels and talks about how each topic is related to the next one or how each topic is related to a topic discussed in a lower grade level.
The series gives interesting stories and anecdotes about the popular experiments and scientists for some of the concepts discussed. These stories are great at inspiring young minds to get them to realize that science is something that they can do and that discoveries are made by people who are just like them.
Easy and simple science projects are discussed throughout the book. These projects are something you can do to help your children really understand the concepts by seeing them in action. These activities will also sharpen and hone your child’s observation and reasoning skills – skills that are vital to success in science.
It’s an amazing ebook series that you should check out. Visit the Amazing Discovery Series website here for more information:
